Ainsworth Community Schools, along with most schools in North Central Nebraska, had a 10:00 a.m. late start on Monday, February 15th due to the extreme cold temperatures. The temperature shown above was taken around 8:00 a.m. Wind chill temperatures were around -42˚. The cold, brutal temperatures were in the forecast until mid-week. -
According to the Polar Bear Dip organizer and owner of Meadville, Kasey Soles, said this was the 24th year for the event. This year it was held on Saturday, January 30th with 37 dippers. Very little ice, approximately 2 inches, was present and the dippers had to go out about 12 feet to be able to go completely under the 19˚ water. -
