5th Grade Tours Ainsworth Star-Journal for National Newspaper Week
The next generation of journalists got a tour of the Ainsworth Star-Journal on Thursday, October 5th for National Newspaper Week.
Ann Hoch and Linda Alberts’ 5th grade classes from Ainsworth Middle School learned about the importance of local newspapers and how the Ainsworth Star-Journal is put together each week.
From setting the copy on computers, to developing negatives and using the web press, “Mabel,” to print the paper, co-owners and publishers Rod and Kathy Worrell took the students through the entire process.
The students also got to look through bound volumes of past editions of the newspaper back to 1903, including editions from the year they were born and the year they started kindergarten.
