Cort Scheer Has Impressive Showing at 2018 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo

Local saddle bronc rider Cort Scheer, of Elsmere, capped off a successful season by winning big at this year’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV, December 6th - 15th.

Scheer qualified for his sixth NFR this year after passing the $1 million mark for PRCA career earnings. In addition to his regular-season earnings of $101,843.00, Scheer also took home $400,000.00 at RFD TV’s The American, which didn’t count in the standings.

Scheer was sitting in ninth place going into the NFR, but quickly caught the attention of spectators and TV announcers alike by winning the first two rounds of competition. He rode Calgary Stampede’s horse Y U R Friskey for 86.50 points in the first round, beating out Wade Sundell and Rusty Wright who split second with scores of 84.5.
