Gorillas defeat Tigers to advance to semi-finals
The Gregory Gorillas scored three touchdowns in the first half Thursday evening, October 31, and came away with a 28-22 second round playoff win over the Howard Tigers to advance to the semifinal playoff game.
The Gorillas got off to a quick start on the second play of the game when Coy Determan connected with Tommy Determan on a 43 yard flea-flicker pass. The reception put the Gorillas inside the twenty yard line. Gregory then scored a few plays later on a Jackson Eklund 7 yard touchdown run. Howard scored a touchdown halfway through the first quarter and took the lead 8-6. The Gorillas put together an eleven play drive and retook the lead 14 to 8 early in the second quarter. The Tigers scored their second touchdown of the night, and the score was knotted up 14 to 14. Gregory scored their third touchdown of the night with 1:02 left on the game clock to take the lead 22-14 into the locker room at the half.
