Life on the road is full of friends and memories
Being a custom harvester is definitely a lifestyle choice. Following the harvest from Oklahoma to North Dakota and back over a fivemonth period wouldn’t be ideal for a lot of people, but for the Meisner family, it is a choice they love.
David and Verena Meisner and their four children, Alexander - 9, Sara - 7, Paul - 6, and Maria - 3, make their home on the road for about five months out of the year, beginning the harvest run in late May or early June with the Oklahoma wheat harvest and finishing back in Oklahoma to harvest cotton, which typically begins in late October. In between, they follow the wheat harvest to Kansas, where they also reap canola before moving on to northern Kansas and then to Gregory.
