Storm, tornado strike northern Gregory County
A severe thunderstorm and tornado hit the Lucas area Sunday evening, June 30, 2019. Late in the afternoon, the National Weather Service started issuing tornado warnings for Gregory County. At one point they reported that the tornado in the Lucas areas was remaining stationary.
A severe storm and possible tornado was spotted east of Winner and expected to arrive in Gregory around 6:00 p.m., but some rain and a few small hailstones were all that showed up.
Later in the evening was when the strong winds and rain hit, knocking down some tree limbs. The City of Gregory received .86 inches of rain by the time everything settled down.
