Bankers Say Economy is Improving in Rural Parts of 10 States

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ The economy is slowly improving in rural parts of 10 Plains and Western states, but employment remains below the level it was at before the coronavirus pandemic began last year, according to a new monthly survey of bankers released Thursday.

During a normal year without COVID-19, the Ainsworth FFA Chapter hosts a pancake feed for the community during FFA Week, provides a petting zoo for the elementary students in April and organizes a Community Betterment Day in May where they do projects around the community.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Top officials from all three branches of Nebraska government on Friday announced a new effort aimed at learning why the state prison population keeps growing and what they might do to safely reduce the number of inmates.

On Saturday, February 20th, the AHS Speech team hosted the Ainsworth Invitational Speech Tournament. Speakers achieved great success in competition, and are looking forward to continuing that success in the next two tournaments: conference and districts, which will also be hosted at home.

NPPD Says Beware of Uptick in Scam Activity

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is asking power customers around the state to be wary of scammers trying to take advantage of the recent winter weather and power outages. These predatory individuals will call and state the customer’s bill must be paid immediately or the power will be shut off and will recommend several methods of payment.

Extension Study Seeks Ranchers’ Input on Grassland Conservation Programs

A newly launched survey by Nebraska Extension seeks ranchers’ input on the design of grassland conservation programs in the state. The survey, a partnership among Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Cattlemen’s, Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, and the University of Nebraska, is a targeted effort to get feedback directly from the ranchers in the state.
