“Historic Flooding” Does Major Damage Throughout the Entire State of Nebraska

“Bomb Cyclone” Devastates Nebraska

Nebraska and the surrounding plains states were devastated by a “Bomb Cyclone” that brought widespread flooding and blizzard-like conditions beginning Wednesday, March 13th.

Governor Pete Ricketts issued a declaration of emergency on Tuesday evening, March 12th, in anticipation of Winter Storm Ulmer. The storm’s intensity grew due to a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure that, according to NASA, reached record lows in some places.

Rain began in this area Wednesday morning and continued for several hours before turning into sleet and blowing snow. Road conditions deteriorated rapidly and barricades were put out to prevent motorists from driving through areas covered in floodwater.
