Board looks to fill staffing vacancies

The Gregory School District Board of Education met at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2010, in the Gregory High School.

Classroom hosts guest speakers

Dyrese Spotted Elk and Harvey Kenzy were in attendance with their teacher, Mrs. Webster, to report some “Gorilla Good News.” The class has speakers come in throughout the year to talk to them about history. One speaker was Joe Duling who dressed the part and told the story of Army Captain Meriwether Lewis, and Chris McAllister visited the class to talk about the fur trade. Jack Broome also attended the class recently to talk about Gregory County’s openings, the land lotteries, and some stories that go along with that.

Spotted Elk shared that he liked learning about the Mulehead Ranch and about the two openings of Gregory County for settlement; Kenzy revealed that he didn’t know there was an Old Dallas that was moved because of the railroad and that the new Dallas is so small because of a big fire.

The meeting started off with the board approving the agenda, the minutes from the previous meeting, and the financial reports/bills governance.
