Brutal storm, tornado rip through Gregory County
A brutal summer storm tore through Gregory County Tuesday night, August 6. Located 20 miles north of Burke, Doug and Sandy Stukel experienced about ten minutes of hail, some stones measuring over two inches in diameter. Dustin and Kristen McIntosh also saw property damage as 80 mile per hour winds drove hail into their buildings.
Byron and Rita Grim, northeast of Gregory, received significant damage to trees and buildings on their farm as a tornado dipped out of the clouds, completely destroying a grain bin and quonset, and ripping apart the roof of their 100+ year-old barn. Steve Opp told them that he could see where the hay bales had bounced as they moved from where they were sitting. Several neighboring farms also experienced similar damage.
