Nelson strikes the right balance for a very successful year

Addy Nelson went off to college like any other freshman. Arriving on campus a week ahead of returning students, she went through freshman orientation, a week of almost no sleep but a lot of fun.

Even then, she stood out from the rest, coming in third place in a rock-paper-scissors competition. In the informal tournament, students would approach another random student and challenge that person. “Whoever you beat would follow you and chant your name,” she explained. “So much fun.”

A major in secondary education, Addy had an on-campus job at the welcome center, played intramural volleyball, and participated in the many fun activities the school had to offer.
