Oh, what a year: a look back at 2020 for Gregory County
Last week the Gregory Times-Advocate printed a review of 2020 for the city of Gregory. The following account is for the rest of the county.
Joe Fahrenbacher retired after 43 years as the owner and publisher of The Burke Gazette. New owner, Chloe Kenzy, took over on January 1.
The Gregory County Courthouse was restored to its original historic look when the windows were all replaced with the same size as when the building was first constructed. Most windows had to be replaced after the August 2019 tornado, so the commissioners opted to go back to the original look to allow the building to be considered for placement on the Historic Building Register. The county received a grant from the South Dakota State Historical Society, which was designed to encourage restoration or rehabilitation of historic properties.
