Three positive cases with symptoms confirmed in Gregory recently
Three cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Gregory over the past weekend, one Saturday, one Sunday, and one Monday. The state’s website lags a few days behind, however, so these new cases probably show up there on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
“We have been training for this since early March, and my biggest concern is that you don’t know if you are going to have a positive result until it’s too late and that people aren’t going to be covered and that we’re going to have an employee infection,” Avera Gregory Hospital and Nursing Home Administrator Tony Timanus said. “But everybody was wearing the right stuff, so there was nobody that had to be quarantined on the staff. It worked exactly as it should have.”
Barb Fiebelkorn was the lead nurse on the job that day, but Katie Biggins, Sarah Sperl, and Sarah Janak have been working for months to ensure that the facility was ready for the inevitable positive case to come in.
