Unusually small senior classes reflected in county’s enrollment numbers
Both Burke and Gregory school districts have unusually small senior classes this year, especially when compared to the rest of the high school classes. In spite of this, Gregory’s enrollment is only down by one student from last year. Burke, however, is down by 19. South Central School District, which has only grades K-5, is down by nine. These three schools combined are seeing a total county-wide decrease of 65 compared to last year.
Nearby Colome is also experiencing an enrollment decline this year, mostly coming at the elementary level where they are down by 18 students. Their high school numbers are only one less than last year.
