Zoning ordinance concerns draw large crowd to county commissioner meeting

The regular meeting of the Gregory County Board of Commissioners was held at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Gregory County Courthouse.

A special event beer license for the Burke VFW Post Home to serve alcohol at the Martin/Feyereisen wedding in Gregory was approved.

Carpet bids swept under the rug for now

Building Maintenance Superintendent Wendy Broome had solicited bids for new carpet for all five offices on the second floor of the courthouse rather than just the three rooms previously discussed. Koenig Lumber and Burke Building Center were the only two bids submitted. The Koenig Lumber bid was $17,391.05, and the Burke Building Center bid was $17,521.94 for 3,414 square feet. The commissioners decided to table the matter and request bids for just the three rooms before making a decision as to whether to do all five offices or just the three they originally agreed to.
