Nebraska Star Party supports International Dark Sky designation

This year marked the 50th anniversary of the United States landing on the moon, which was the theme for this year’s annual event. On their program guide, a graphic of the moon shows a camper and tent, along with telescope aimed at Merritt Reservoir on Earth.

Well, it’s the other way around really, and the observing field was filled with more than 300 stargazers - one of the largest crowds in recent years. They had a stellar line up of speakers at the Valentine High School, Wednesday afternoon, along with a kids program - all free, and an outreach for stargazers as well as people from the area.
