Stec and Kamas Families Donate to Ainsworth Women’s Club

The Stec and Kamas families recently gifted a $3,000.00 matching donation to the Ainsworth Women’s Club. Over the spring and summer of 2022, the Women’s Club was able to fundraise the matching $3,000.00.

Work Begins on Community Fishing Pond

Work on the new Community Fishing Pond began this past week. The Brown County Road Department started moving dirt for the Community Fishing Pond which will be located east of the Brown County Hospital on county property.

Addilyn Doke Qualifies for National History Day Contest

Fourteen Ainsworth Middle School students attended the State contest for National History Day. The contest was held on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln on Saturday, April 1st. One of those students, Addilyn Doke, has qualified for the national contest. Addi earned first place for her junior individual performance titled “Arbor Day: Greener Frontier in Nebraska’s Environment.” She also won first prize for the NEBRASKAland Foundation Award. This special prize is given for the best use of primary sources to research a Nebraska topic.

Brown County Report March 26th through April 1st, 2023 Sunday, March 26th Responded to a report of a disturbance on Main Street in Long Pine. Received reports of various road signs abandoned along Highway 7, near 875th Road.

The ongoing filibuster of every single bill in the First Session of the 108th Legislature is becoming a serious problem. We have important business the people of Nebraska expect us to accomplish. Our constitution requires us to pass a balanced budget during this session, and a voter ID law.

We probably shouldn’t be surprised that stealth candidate Jim Pillen who refused to debate and was elected Governor anyway hasn’t been releasing information about his public schedule. No schedules, nor press releases, little or no comment about issues.

Ainsworth American Legion Auxiliary met March 28, 2023 at the American Legion Post #79 for the regular monthly meeting. The evening began at 6:30 p.m.

USDA Forest Service Invests to Reduce Wildfire Risk to Communities in Nebraska and Other States

Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced yesterday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service is investing $1,590,004 in wildfire protection projects across Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming, as part of the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) program. The CWDG program is designed to assist communities, including Tribal communities, non-profit organizations, state forestry agencies and Alaska Native corporations with planning for and mitigating wildfire risks on tribal, state, and privately managed land.
