The Ainsworth American Legion Auxiliary met February 28, 2023 at the Ainsworth American Legion Post Home. President Marilyn called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Ainsworth Lions Club

The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Ainsworth Lions Club was held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Senior Center in Ainsworth. President Dale Hafer gave the opening bell and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Roland Paddock led the prayer. There were 10 members and one guest presenter present.

Hospital Board Reviews Financials, AFC X-Ray Machine and Upcoming Events

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, March 20, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tate Schipporeit. Other members in attendance were Kirk Peterson, Brian Delimont and John Gross. Brent Deibler was excused. Also attending were Mirya Hallock - CEO, Tad Stearns - CFO, Lisa Fischer - HR and Tawny Allen Recording Secretary. Jayce Linse attended to present her department reports.

Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program 2023-24 Scholarship Recipients

The Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln has announced the recipients of scholarships for the 2023-24 academic year. The one-time scholarships will be awarded to 84 students totaling $184,000.00 for the ensuing academic year.

Greg and Kathy Jochem Open Yogi’s Place

Lifetime Brown County residents, Greg and Kathy Jochem have purchased J’s Keggers and renamed it Yogi’s Place. Located on Highway 20 at 635E.4thStreetinAinsworth, Jochems opened Yogi’s Place on Monday, February 6th.

Ainsworth City Council Approves Tower Lease

For several months the Ainsworth City Council has been negotiating with Tower Alliance to continue leasing city owned property for its cell tower near Ainsworth’s Solid Waste Treatment Plant. The final lease agreement included: • Additional 5, 5 year terms; • Increased annual rent from $5,400 to $8,400 effective immediately; • Two percent (2%) rent escalation per year; • Ten percent (10%) revenue share on new tenants on the tower; and • One time signing bonus of $10,000.
