The Brown County Sheriff’s Department investigated a one vehicle roll over south of Ainsworth. The accident occurred at 1:45 p.m.

Legislative Notes

I am a defender of the Second Amendment. I firmly believe it is the one constitutional amendment which guarantees all the others. The first role of government is to defend our rights, not pass laws that further infringe upon them. The Second Amendment is already the only constitutional “right” we have to ask permission to use.

Brown County Report February 5 - 11, 2023 Sunday, February 5th Responded to a report of an intoxicated driver on Highway 20. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle near mile marker 227.

Bethany Chapter

# OES Offers Scholarships Bethany Chapter #113, Order of the Eastern Star of Ainsworth, is making available three scholarships in the amount of 1 - $500.00 and 2 - $300.00 for three high school seniors from the following schools - Ainsworth High School, Rock County High School, Keya Paha County High School, West Holt High School, O’Neill Public Schools or St. Mary’s High School and Stuart High School.

AHS Students Selected to Participate in Honor Choirs

On Monday, January 29, 2023, four Ainsworth Community Schools students participated in the UNK Honor Choir Festivals. There were three select choirs at this event and our singers were selected into two. Makenna Pierce participated in the Honor Choir and Breanna McLeod, Kaitlynn Inbody and Kyla Pierce participated in the Treble Choir. Chloe DeBusk was also selected for the treble choir, but was unable to attend. Both choirs had roughly 100-120 students from across the State of Nebraska. The Treble Choir and the Honor Choir each performed four pieces in their final performances. –––––––––––– On Friday, February 3, 2023, two students traveled to Wayne, NE to participate in the Wayne State College Honor Choir Festival.

Alpha Delta Meets in Ainsworth

Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met February 4th, 2023, at the Pizza Hut in Ainsworth. Six members answered roll call and made a donation to the Read Aloud Nebraska fund.

Brown County Hospital Board Elects Officers

The regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, February 6, 2023 with Board members Brent Deibler, Tate Schipporeit, Kirk Peterson and John Gross. Brian Delimont was excused. Also attending the meeting were CEO Mirya Hallock, CFO Tad Stearns and Recording Secretary Tawny Allen along with Geri Johnson and Dr. Campbell SERVICE EXCELLENCE Mirya Hallock shared with the members on the Annual Appreciation Party, held January 7th, 2023.

Long Pine City Council Approves Resolution to Pay Recurring Monthly Expenses Before Meetings

One of the two agenda items that passed during the February 2nd meeting of the Long Pine City Council was Resolution 2023-2-2. This resolution allows certain payroll payments and other recurring monthly expenses such as utility bills, insurance and bond payments along with regular and customary payments which become due and payable prior to the next regular meeting, of the Mayor and Council that are required to be paid within certain time frames, to maintain good financial ratings and customer relations with the city’s creditor, employees and residents of the city.
