Most Women Ever Set to Serve in Nebraska Legislature There will be 18 women sworn in as state senators in January, the most ever in the Nebraska Unicameral Legislature. Half declare as Republicans and half as Democrats in the officially nonpartisan body.

Big Game Meetings Scheduled Across Nebraska

Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game issues during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public information meetings this winter. Three-hour meetings are scheduled in each Game and Parks district.

Legislative Notes

The first session of the 108th Legislature is going to start in less than a month. Nebraska’s constitution says the legislature “must” do two things. We must meet the first Wednesday after the first Monday in January, and we also must pass a two-year budget in the first session. This year, the people of Nebraska ratified a constitutional amendment on the ballot, so the Legislature has a third compulsory requirement we must pass this session; a law that implements voter ID. We cannot have another election in Nebraska until this law is signed by the Governor.

AHS One-Act cast and Crew Conclude 2022 Play Production Season

The AHS One-Act cast and crew had a successful 2022 Play Production season. The group took their show on the road to the Southwest Conference Play Competition in Valentine on Monday, November 20th. While the team finished at the bottom of the competition field, there were seven individuals who received Outstanding Performer awards: Dakota Stutzman, Cameryn Goochey, Ethan Fernau, Trey Appelt, Cole Bodeman, Makenna Pierce and Katherine Kerrigan.

Beels and Guggenmos Receive Diplomas from CCC

Central Community College honored 345 graduate candidates during its 2022 winter commencement on December 9th at CCCHastings. Recipients of degrees and diplomas included: Katrina F.

UNK Degrees for 405 to be Conferred

Graduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred for 405 winter graduates at University of Nebraska at Kearney commencement exercises on Friday, December 16th at UNK’s Health and Sports Center. Receiving degrees from this area will be: Elizabeth Salzman of Ainsworth receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree in Health & Physical Education, Cum Laude.
