Ainsworth City Council to Meet The Ainsworth City Council will meet in regular session on Wednesday, December 14th at 5:00 p.m. at the Ainsworth Conference Center.

Ainsworth Lions Club Donates to Ainsworth Food Pantry

Ainsworth Lions President Dale Hafer (right) presents Pastor Gary Graesser (left) a check for $1,000.00 for the Ainsworth Food Pantry on behalf of the Ainsworth Lions Club. The Lions voted to provide the donation to the Pantry at their November 21st regular meeting.

American Legion Family Membership Tour Makes Stop at Ainsworth to Kick Off the Event

District I hosted the Annual American Legion Family Membership Tour. Ainsworth Post and Unit #79 kicked the event off with a 7:00 a.m. breakfast on December 21, 2022. District I Commander and Post #79 Commander, Judy Walters welcomed the Department Officers, District Officers and the National Alternate Executive Committeeman. Each brought greetings and promoted their special programs.

Ainsworth City Council Approved Line of Credit for Care Center Funding

The Ainsworth City Council met in special session on Monday, November 28th to discuss funding for the Sandhills Care Center. Following a joint meeting of the Brown County Commissioners, Ainsworth City Council and Sandhills Care Center Board, the City Council decided to hold a special meeting to discuss allowing the Care Center Board to apply for a line of credit for operating using the recently voted for city levy as collateral.

Small Business Saturday Craft and Vendor Fair Held in Johnstown

Small Business Saturday showcased several small businesses from the Sandhills who displayed homemade products including wreathes, signs, cards and food, plus other products on sale such as towels, jewelry, knives, clothing and much more.

Annual Christmas Pageant to be Hosted by Ainsworth's Women’s Club on December 5th

Around the world, Christmas is a time for family and community traditions. Residents of the “Christmas City of the Sandhills” in Ainsworth are especially proud of their own unique tradition - a live re-enactment of the birth of the Christ child in Bethlehem. For over a half a century now, members of the Ainsworth Women’s Club have presented the story of Christ’s life in an annual Christmas Pageant free to members of the community.

Anita Keys Named Northeast’s Ag-ceptional Woman Of The Year

Anita Keys of Elsmere, was named 2022 Ag-ceptional Woman of the Year during Northeast Community College’s Agceptional Women’s Conference recently on the Northeast campus in Norfolk. The announcement was made as part of a video tribute that was played during the opening session of the 14th annual conference. The video was sponsored by Farm Credit Services of America and produced by the Northeast Agriculture Department and District 25 Productions, LLC.

Sheriff’s Report

November 20 - 26, 2022 Sunday, November 20th During a traffic stop on Highway 20, near mile marker 233, one driver was issued a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol and no operator’s license and was booked into the Brown County Jail. Two of the four passengers in the vehicle were also issued citations for possession of an open alcohol container.
