Bivalent COVID-19 Vaccine Available for Children 5 Years and Older

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the expanded approval of COVID-19 Bivalent vaccine boosters for children ages 5 years and older on October 12, 2022. These boosters were made to target the versions of the COVID-19 virus that has been present in our communities. This announcement has expanded the availability of the Bivalent Vaccines for the following groups:

Brown County Report October 9 - 15, 2022 Sunday, October 9th Responded to a report of an unauthorized off road vehicle on North Walnut Street in Ainsworth. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

1897: 125 Years Ago Herman Weets the young man who left this place a few days ago for the Hospital in Omaha to have an operation performed on his head, which seems to have a very dangerous growth, is improving rapidly and will be home in a few days: Frank Sedlacek, a 17-year-old boy, has been brought to Valentine charged with murder in the first degree. By some it is believed that Frank either purposely or by accident shot and killed his 11-year-old sister, though the lad stoutly maintains that she shot herself accidently.

Fomalhaut: Not So Lonely After All

Fall evenings bring a prominent visitor to southern skies for Northern Hemisphere observers: the bright star Fomalhaut! Sometimes called “The Autumn Star,” Fomalhaut appears unusually distant from other bright stars in its section of sky, leading to its other nickname: “The Loneliest Star.” Since this star appears so low and lonely over the horizon for many observers, is so bright, and often wildly twinkles from atmospheric turbulence, Fomalhaut’s brief but bright seasonal appearance often inspires a few startled UFO reports. While definitely out of this world – Fomalhaut is about 25 light years distant from us – it has been extensively studied and is a fascinating, and very identified, stellar object.

Ainsworth Cross Country Runners Qualify for 2022 NSAA State Cross Country Championship

The Ainsworth Girls Cross Country Team along with Corbin Swanson punched their tickets to the NSAA State Cross Country Championships with their performances on Thursday, October 13th. Corbin Swanson earned his ticket with a top fifteen performance while the girls’ squad of Katherine Kerrigan, Emma Kennedy, Payton Moody and Preselyn Goochey all finished in the top eleven to walk away with the District D-4 Title.
