For three days, all of the Bud and Ruth Trobee children got together at Lake McConoughy the last weekend in August. Those attending were Bud and Ruth from Johnstown, Gary, Kim and Drake Trobee of Colorado Springs, CO, Todd and Tara Trobee of Ord, Nat and Serena and Tyler of Colorado, Janette Miller of Ord, Janine and Heather Larson of Ainsworth, Kara and Chuck John of Ord, Shelby Jones, Brent McGee of Gregory and Ethan John of Ord. On Saturday they enjoyed playing music together. A grand time was held by all.

By Andrew Ellsworth, M.D._ After a visit about aches, pains and various medical issues, a patient was commenting on getting older.Similar to other patients, I expected him to say something like, “It’s no fun getting older.”To my surprise, the patient said, “I’m 85. That means I have a lot to be thankful for.” Some people are almost always positive, and some are usually negative.Those that are positive have been found to have better outcomes and seem to enjoy themselves more while unfortunately, those that tend to be more negative do not do as well.

1900: 122 Years Ago “News from Nebraska” “Lillie Armstrong, a little girl about 8 years old, while playing show at Beatrice with several youthful companions, was hypnotized by one of them after the prescribed method which they had witnessed at a hypnotic exhibition. The youthful hypnotist announced that he would hypnotize Lillian and put her to sleep and, to his own surprise, succeeded in doing so it so frightened him that he was unable to bring her out of the spell and all efforts by members of the family had no effect.

The Summer Triangle’s Hidden Treasures

David Prosper September skies bring the lovely Summer Triangle asterism into prime position after nightfall for observers in the Northern Hemisphere. Its position high in the sky may make it difficult for some to observe its member stars comfortably, since looking straight up while standing can be hard on one’s neck! While that isn’t much of a problem for those that just want to quickly spot its brightest stars and member constellations, this difficulty can prevent folks from seeing some of the lesser known and dimmer star patterns scattered around its informal borders.

BKR 4-Hers Receive Awards at the 2022 Nebraska State Fair

BKR 4-Hers submitted entries to the 2022 Nebraska State Fair that qualified at the 2022 BKR 4-H Fair held from July 31st through August 5th at the Rock County Fair Grounds in Bassett. Following are the results from the Nebraska State Fair.
