Fireworks - Be Courteous During This 4th of July Celebration

The celebration of America’s Independence is a longheld tradition, now often celebrated with food, family, friends and fireworks. Fireworks stands will be opening for business in the next few days, and customers can purchase them between the dates of June 25th and ending at midnight on July 4th. In preparation for the upcoming Fourth of July, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the local fire departments wish to remind the public about the regulations concerning fireworks.

Construction Continues on Highway 20

Carl Hart, NDOT Highway Project Manager, reported A&R Construction closed the Oak Street intersection and opened the Maple Street intersection early Monday afternoon, June 20th. Preparations for placing concrete from Oak Street to Pine Street was scheduled for Tuesday, June 21st morning.

June 19 is celebrated as “Juneteenth”

June 19 is celebrated as “Juneteenth,” in honor of one of the final acts of emancipation of slaves in the U.S. This year, June 19 falls on a Sunday, so the federal holiday – established in 2021 by President Joe Biden – will be observed on Monday, June 20.

President’s and Deans’ Lists Released at Northeast Community College

Northeast Community College has released the President’s Honor List and Deans’ Honor List for both full and part-time students for the Spring 2022 semester. To be named to the President’s Honor List, students must earn a grade point average of 4.0 and be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours.
