“Father’s Day” This coming weekend marks a special day for all DADs. It is Father’s Day.

Legislative Notes

By now everyone is familiar with the Uvalde, Texas mass murder. As one of the strongest supporters of the second amendment in the Nebraska Legislature, I felt expressing my opinion on this matter was something many people expected me to do. Out of respect for the families of the victims, I wanted to wait for the funerals to at least be finished before making any public comments.

Can We Just Play Nice for a Change? Just when we breathed a sigh of relief that the particularly nasty primary election was over and our mailboxes would once again be empty and our TV sets would resume regular programming; somebody decided we deserve more of the same. You know what I’m talking about.

Annual Carnival Days Held in Ainsworth

The annual Carnival Days were held in Ainsworth on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 10th, 11th and 12th. D.C. Lynch Carnival rolled into town on Friday and set up on Main Street. Young and old alike enjoyed the rides, midway games and much more.

Ty Schlueter Named 2021-22 KBRB Athlete of the Year

Ty Schlueter has been named the 2021-22 KBRB Athlete of the Year for his performance both on and off the field and court. Voted on by the head coaches, faculty and A Club at Ainsworth Community Schools, the KBRB Athlete of the Year is awarded to a senior at Ainsworth High School who has excelled in sports and in the classroom.

Volunteers Prepare Ainsworth Cemeteries for Memorial Day

Each year the Ainsworth American Legion and Legion Auxiliary place flags, crosses and service plaques on graves of men and women who have served in one of the military branches. And each year, volunteers converge on the cemeteries to assist the Legion and Legion Auxiliary members with decorating the cemeteries.

Thought for the week: “The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created spring.” Bern Williams Saturday, May 28th, was a very warm day but the temperatures have been more normal and sometimes on the cool side. We have received some rain showers off and on.

Local News

Carol Woods had a busy Memorial day weekend. Her brother, Jim Marsh, came on Saturday. He had been doing farm chores for some friends. They decorated family graves on Monday amid the sprinkles. Carol had a total of 1.60” of rain.
