Thought for the week: “The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created spring.” Bern Williams Saturday, May 28th, was a very warm day but the temperatures have been more normal and sometimes on the cool side. We have received some rain showers off and on.

Local News

Carol Woods had a busy Memorial day weekend. Her brother, Jim Marsh, came on Saturday. He had been doing farm chores for some friends. They decorated family graves on Monday amid the sprinkles. Carol had a total of 1.60” of rain.

Community Senior Center News

Taco or Chef Salad Available Thursday, June 9th: Chicken strips, french fries, California blend, peaches, roll and milk. Friday, June 10th: Crumble burger, hash browns, spinach, mandarin oranges, bun and milk.

Volunteer Turtle Lovers Needed

The Sandhills Prairie Refuge Association (SPRA) will be sponsoring repairs of the turtle fences along Highway 83 through Valentine National Wildlife Refuge. Work is planned for June 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th. Volunteers are needed who can work one or more days on the project. The fences, built to reduce road kill on the highway, are in need of repair due to high water, ice and vehicle collisions. SPRA has raised funds to purchase 250 feet of chain link fence to replace damaged sections. SPRA will host a cookout with a speaker following work on Saturday, June 11th. Volunteers will also get a Blanding’s turtle t-shirt. Ainsworth Men’s League Golf

Nick Martin shot a three-under 33 to lead the field Thursday, June 2nd during Men’s League Golf at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. Other low rounds for Men’s League were posted by an evenpar round of 36 for Cody Goochey.
