Work Continues on Highway 20 Project Through Ainsworth

Cart Hart, Highway Project Manager for NDOT, reported on Monday, June 6th that A&R Construction placed concrete at Osborne Street intersection and will continue to work east from Osborne Street toward Main Street. After the concrete has cured, A&R will switch city street access from Woodward Street to Osborne Street later in the week. Storm sewer installation continues from Cedar to Ash Street.

May 22 - May 28, 2022 Sunday, May 22nd Brown County Ambulance Association responded to a 911 call to Cottonwood Villa; the patient did not require transport. The Long Pine Rural Fire Department issued a burn permit.

“27th Annual Masonic All-Star Marching Band” Another Masonic All-Star Marching Band is in the books. 190 band students from 70 high schools throughout Nebraska gathered at the University of Nebraska in Kearney on Tuesday, May 31st.

Legislative Notes

One of the rules we are currently following in the Nebraska legislature is plainly unconstitutional and it needs to be changed in the next session. The beginning of first sessions is when a motion to change the rules is in order.

Inclement Weather Brought Memorial Day Services Inside

Inclement weather on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th had the American Legion and Auxilary move their services from the Ainsworth Cemetery to the Legion Hall. Marilyn Anderson, President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #79 gave the welcome.

Long Pine City Council Approves Street Closure for Long Pine Day

The City Council of Long Pine held its June meeting on Thursday the 2nd in the Long Pine Community Center. Members Linda Alberts, Dave Cheatum and Kathy Papstein were present and Andrea Collatos was absent. City Clerk/Treasurer Jan Buoy, Mayor Ed Brown and City Attorney Rod Palmer were all present as well.
