Special Meeting to Discuss the Future of the Sandhills Care Center Monday, June 13th, 5:00 p.m.

The Brown County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. at the Ainsworth Conference Center for the purpose of meeting with the Ainsworth City Council and Sandhills Care Center Board of Directors to discuss the Future of the Sandhills Care Center. A complete agenda is kept on file for public inspection in the Brown County Clerk’s office in Brown County Courthouse.

Ainsworth Pool has Cold Opening on Friday, June 3rd

Ava Graff does a jumping trick off the diving board. Ainsworth Municipal Swimming Pool opened its heavy blue doors for summer swimmers on Friday, June 3rd for a cold opening – the temperature barely hit 70° and lifeguards were wearing sweatshirts – but the pool water was warm and the kids were enthusiastically enjoying the first day of a long summer sure to be packed with pool days.

Deputy Kyle Stang-MADD Hero Award Winner for Adult DUI Enforcement Individual

Brown County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stang has zero tolerance for impaired drivers. He is often found participating in overtime activities focused on drunk driving, motivating the team around him, and making the community safer. His work ethic goes above and beyond, making 22 arrests for DUI in the past year, in a county with a population of only 3,000 people. Deputy Stang has served the community since April 2017. His positive influence on his team drives them to work to remove impaired drivers from the roads, ultimately making the community and the roads safer.

After Record Year, Game and Parks Reminds Boaters to Help Stop Aquatic Invasive Species

While many Nebraskans are eager to enjoy Memorial Day weekend boating, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission urges them to be wary of pesky hitchhikers that invade the state’s waters. To prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species, Game and Parks watercraft inspectors will be checking boats before they launch at lakes around the state.
