Ainsworth Bulldogs Defeat Boyd County and Loses to O’Neill

The Ainsworth Bulldogs split two games this past week with a 69-46 win over the Boyd County Spartans on January 9th and a loss to O’Neill Eagles, 46-72, on January 11th. Boyd County Spartans Everything went the Ainsworth Bulldogs way against Boyd County on January 9th as the Dawgs came away with a 69-46 victory.

Old Man Winter Flexes His Muscles

Old Man Winter evidently decided he had been too kind in his winter weather. On Wednesday, January 10th Ainsworth received three inches of snow, but the temperature was a balmy 35 degrees.

Gov. Pillen Temporarily Waves Regulations for Truckers Hauling Critically Needed Fuel

Governor Jim Pillen has issued Executive Order 24-1 to provide an emergency waiver of federal hours of service requirements for fuel truck drivers, to prevent shortages. Nebraska is experiencing extreme cold temperatures, increasing electricity demand, which in turn increases pressure on power districts’ reserve fuel supplies. The order temporarily allows drivers to work extended hours to haul residential heating fuels and oils or fuel used to generate power for residential heat.

Mountain Lion Season Ends in Pine Ridge Unit and State

The 2024 mountain lion hunting season in Nebraska’s Pine Ridge Unit closed January 10th when the harvest sublimit of two females was met, also ending the season in the state. The season closed when a collared adult female was harvested in Dawes County.

Allison Taylor Named to CCC President’s List

Central Community College has announced the names of full-time students who earned spots on the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the 2023 fall semester. The students were enrolled at one or more CCC locations, which include the Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings campuses; Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington centers; and Ord Learning Center.

Jenna Williams Named to SDSU Fall Dean’s List

South Dakota State University announces Jenna Williams of Ainsworth has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester. Williams has a 4.0 GPA.
