Carter Nelson Signs National Letter of Intent with Nebraska Cornhuskers

It is official, Carter Nelson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play football for the University of Nebraska on Wednesday, December 20th. Sided by his parents, Jake and Sandi Nelson and sister, Kaitlyn and surrounded by coaches and members of the 2023 Bulldog Football Team, Nelson signed his Letter of Intent.

Minimum Wage Increases to $12.00 Effective January 1, 2024

Nebraska’s minimum wage will increase to $12.00 per hour effective January 1, 2024. In accordance with an initiative passed by voters in November of 2022, the minimum wage will increase $1.50 each year through 2026, followed by an annual cost of living increase beginning in 2027. The minimum hourly wage for tipped employees is $2.13 per hour. Employers are responsible for ensuring that wages and tips combined equal at least the minimum wage.

Legislative Notes

As my final session in the legislature is about to begin, I am busy making sure I leave the legislature better than I found it. There is one thing I know for certain: Nebraska’s future energy policy should not be based on “renewable” energy. In every case, it makes our electric grid more fragile and makes electricity in Nebraska cost more, to say nothing of what it does to the good people of Nebraska.

Nebraska’s November 2023 Unemployment Rate is 2.3 Percent

Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for November 2023 is 2.3 percent, seasonally adjusted. The rate is up 0.1 percentage points from the October 2023 rate of 2.2 percent and is down 0.4 percentage points from the November 2022 rate of 2.7 percent.
