A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, December 18, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Tate Schipporeit with board members Brent Deibler, John Gross, Kirk Peterson and Brian Delimont present.

While daytime temperatures have been mild so far this December, bitter cold and negative wind chills are undoubtedly on the horizon. This is a good time to consider how we can best protect our cattle since livestock performance and survival is affected by wind and temperature.

Producers can elect coverage and enroll in ARC-County (ARCCO) or PLC, which provide cropby crop protection, or ARC-Individual (ARC-IC), which protects the entire farm. Although election changes for 2024 are optional, producers must enroll through a signed contract each year. Also, if a producer has a multi-year contract on the farm it will continue for 2024 unless an election change is made.

Applications for multispecies Super Tag and Combo lottery permits will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission beginning January 2, 2024. The Super Tag lottery permit will be valid for one elk of either sex, one antelope of either sex, one deer of either sex and two turkeys (only toms and bearded hens may be taken in the spring).

Katrina Beel of Johnstown, NE was named on Chadron State College’s President’s List. To qualify, student must have a cumulative 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) has released the 2024 and 2025 Football Classifications. The classification and schedules will be for two years – the 2024 and 2025 football seasons for Classes A-B-C1-C2-D1-D2-D6.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester. Students who are on the dean’s list must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.
