Public Urged to Check Boats, Lifts, and Docks for Invasive Species

As recreation boating season winds down and waterfowl hunting season ramps up, Nebraskans are urged to check boats, boat lifts and docks for invasive species when removing them from the water. Waterfowl hunters are encouraged to take special care prior to launching their boats so as not to contribute to the spread of zebra mussels or aquatic invasive plants.

Long Pine City Council Approves Using Miller & Associates to Take Over Duties as 2023 City Street Superintendent

Long Pine City Council listened to Reed Miller, a representative of Miller & Associatess Consulting Engineers P.C., who presented their Engineering Services - City Engineer and Street Superintendent proposal. The city is looking for a new City Street Superintendent to finish out 2023 since they were notified their current one, Gilmore and Associates informed the city they were closing effective October 31, 2023.

Niobrara National Scenic River Receives “Quiet Trail” Award

The Niobrara National Scenic River will receive an official “Quiet Trail” award Friday, October 20th from Quiet Parks International in recognition of the river corridor’s pristine natural soundscape largely free from man-made noise. Quiet Parks International, a non-profit organization based in California, studies and recognizes quiet places worldwide, encouraging everyone to safeguard these areas for future enjoyment. The ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. CT at the Niobrara National Scenic River visitor center in Valentine, NE.

McAndrew Elementary August Students of the Month

Alora would make a great student of the month because she is kind, and helpful, listens to directions, does a great job taking turns, and tries her hardest to complete her assignments! Cord does a nice job of following expectations. He has a positive attitude and pays attention and participates in class.
