McAndrew Elementary September Students of the Month

Aiden has amazing patience, is kind, listens with both ears open, works hard to get his work finished and has improved greatly on writing his letters and numbers using the correct formation. Aiden is a big helper with his classmates whether it is in the classroom, hallway, or outside.

Brown County Hospital Board Meeting The Brown County Hospital Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 18th at 5:00 p.m. in the Brown County Hospital Conference Room.

October 21-22 Youth Pheasant Season Set

The October 21-22 statewide youth pheasant, quail and partridge season for hunters ages 15 and younger provides an excellent opportunity to mentor new hunters. “The youth season provides a great opportunity to get young hunters out hunting in a more controlled environment,” said Bryan O’Connor, upland game program manager for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Community Pond Filling Started

Filling of the Community Pond located east of the Brown County Hospital started Friday evening. Holldyn Beck of Beck’s Well and Irrigation hooked pipe up to an irrigation well owned by Galyen Farms late Friday, October 6th to start filling the pond.

Commissioners Discuss Highland Grove Cemetery

Several people were on hand for the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners on October 3rd. They were present seeking the help of the Commissioners to determine ownership of the Highland Grove Cemetery so it can be used again.

Getting Under Your Skin With Varicose Veins

From the back of our hands to the back of our legs, pale blue blood vessels are visible just under the skin. Oftentimes these veins are flat and not painful. However when these vessels become abnormally swollen or dilated, they are called varicose veins. This swelling is caused by the valves inside the veins becoming weak and no longer sealing tightly. Varicose veins can become painful, quite large and stick out from the surface of the skin.
