Cherry County State Park Areas, WMAS Temporarily Banning Campfires

Nebraska state park areas and wildlife management areas in Cherry County are temporarily banning campfires as drought conditions have triggered extreme fire danger. The following areas will have campfire bans until further notice: • Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area.

Brown County Commissioners Discuss Increasing Meadville Avenue Speed Limit

During the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners on September 5th, the commissioners discussed at length the possibility of increasing the speed limit on Meadville Avenue. Meadville Avenue was resurfaced this summer and the Sand Draw Bridge is open, so traffice can traverse from Ainsworth to Meadville without a detour and over smooth asphalt to the gravel.

Junior Barrel Racing Results

During the Brown County Fair on Labor Day in Johnstown, youth could participate in the Junior Barrels. Winners in the three age groups were: 5 & Under: 1.

Ainsworth Girls Golf Team Has Busy Week

The Ainsworth Girls Golf team saw a busy week of competition as they approach the final half of their season. On Tuesday, September 4th, the team traveled to the Broken Bow invitational for a windy day of golf.

I thought about the ladies in the buildings doing entries. Those buildings get so very hot on a warm day I can only image how warm it got in there. The weather has changed and we have had cooler weather. One report north of Johnstown said they got 2 inches of rain since Thursday. We are all thankful for the moisture that we received.
