Ainsworth American Legion Auxiliary Elect Officers for 2023-2024

The Ainsworth American Legion Auxiliary met June 27, 2023, at the American Legion #79 Post Home. Prior to starting the meeting, recent Nebraska Girls State participant; Katherine Kerrigan, spoke to the Legion and Auxiliary on her experience at this year’s event.

Brown County Commissioners Review Tree Branch Height and Wagoner Bridge

During the regular meeting of the Brown County Commissioners on July 18th, the commissioners considered a possible tree branch height ordinance. The discussion was carried over from the previous meeting where the commissioners considered up to a 14 foot minimum due to trucks and large farm equipment.

Leanne and Bob Maxwell Receive Yard of the Week Honors

Leanne and Bob Maxwell were selected as the Ainsworth Chamber of Commerce Yard of the Week. The Maxwell’s live at 1046 East 3rd Street in Ainsworth. Flowers and decor adorn the front of the house. The flowers include Tiger Lilies, Begonias, Marigolds, Impatiens along with other potted flowers and plants.

Brown County Commissioners to Meet The Brown County Commissioners will meet as a Board of Equalization on Tuesday, August 1st at 1:00 p.m., and as the Board of Commissioners at 1:15 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Room in the Courthouse.

Emerald Ash Borer Discovered in North Platte

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture announced today the presence of emerald ash borer (EAB) in North Platte. A tree in the city’s Memorial Park was found with definitive evidence of EAB, including distinctive Dshaped holes in the trunk and winding tunnels below the bark. The discovery is the westernmost known infestation of this tree-killing pest in the state. In addition, an EAB sample was also identified in a trap at Indian Cave State Park in Nemaha County.
