Jacqueline Lorree Bills Ravenscroft, 89
Jacqueline Lorree Bills, the daughter of Jack and Rebecca (Prettyman) Bills was born in Independence, MO on October 12, 1927 and died at the Parkside Manor in Stuart, NE on October 26, 2016 at the age of 89. Jackie, the youngest of three children, lived on the family farm and attended school in Bates City, MO until the death of her father. Jackie and her mother then moved to Independence, MO, where Jackie graduated high school. Jackie came to the Nebraska Sandhills to visit an aunt, Della Bangs, and ended up teaching the 1945-1946 term at the Wolfenden school. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Jim, at a Brownlee dance. One of their fun dating experiences was hunting coyotes on horseback. Jackie was married to Jim Ravenscroft in Independence, MO on December 28, 1946. Jackie and Jim made their home at the “Cross O” Ranch fifty miles southwest of Valentine, NE where they were blessed with four children - Rob, Jack, Steve and Sally. Jackie embraced the life of a ranch wife while raising four active children. Jackie was a talented cook, Tole-painting artist, pianist, seamstress and gardener. Jim and Jackie retired from ranching December 1999 to live in Valentine. Jackie was active in the community, including 4-H and bridge groups. She served as president of Chapter CA P.E.O. Sisterhood, Worthy Matron of Minnehaha Chapter 246 Order of the Eastern Star, president of the Area 17 Cattlewomen as well as president of the Nebraska Cattlewomen. She was a member of the Sandpainters Art Guild and the Presbyterian Church. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Ray Bills, sister, Mabel Bills Brady and nephew James Bills. She is survived by sons, Robert (Jan) of Lincoln, NE, Jack (Lynda) of Valentine, NE, Steve (Julie) of Hyannis, NE and daughter, Sally (Don) Monroe of Sparks, NE; eight grandchildren: Jess (Kim) Ravenscroft, Ryan (Jenn) Ravenscroft, Carrie Ravenscroft, Crystal McKeehan, Tom (Deanne) Monroe, Mandy (Lukas) Tvedt, Mark (Michelle) Monroe and Kim (TC) Berry; thirteen great-grandchildren: Ramsey, Jackson, Thurston, Ethan and Sela Ravenscroft, Tate and Cooper Berry, James and Alexandra Monroe, Hudson McKeehan, Miles, Nolan and Wyatt Tvedt; sisters-in-law, Jean McGaughey, Ruth Holm and Winifred Ravenscroft; brother-in-law, Donald Ravenscroft; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services were held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Private family interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.
