Funeral services for Orval Graber were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Winner. Burial was in the Winner City Cemetery. Mason Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Orval was born on December 7, 1943, to Elmer J. and Clara C. Graber. He was the youngest of four children. Orval was baptized on May 17, 1959, at Salem Zion Mennonite Church in Freeman. He attended country school, graduated from Freeman Academy, and went on to receive his bachelors and masters degrees in agricultural education from SDSU.
On August 10, 1969, Orval was united in marriage to Diane Tschetter. One week later, they moved to Winner, where he had accepted a teaching position as the vocational agriculture and FFA instructor. After 25 years, he retired from teaching and worked for the City of Winner.
During their 47 years of marriage, Orval and Diane had three children: Cherie Annette, Carla Ann, and Cory Dean. Their church memberships were transferred to the First Baptist Church of Winner where he remained active serving in many capacities until his death. He was also a member of the Gideons.
In his free time, Orval enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing with the A’Cafellas chorus, and spending time with his five grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; children: Cherie Carver (Tim Sweany) of Minneapolis, MN, Carla (Duncan) Schwensohn of Duluth, MN, Cory (Ronda) Graber of Gregory; grandchildren: Jaden, Madisan, and Paisley Graber; Henry and Lorelie Schwensohn; brother, Cordell (Clara) Graber of Freeman; sister, Karen (Leo) Pauls of Emporia, KS; in-laws: Solomon (Edna) Tschetter of Huron, Lavonne Tschetter of Freeman, Darlene (Victor) Schaeffer of Yankton, Evelyn Wallmann of Huron, Judy (Allen) Schofield of Chamberlain, Susie (Wilmer) Bunger of Emery, aunt, Rita Graber of Freeman, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by Elmer J. and Clara C. Graber; sister, Eunice Graber; parents-in-law, Paul P. and Barbara Tschetter.
