Men’s golf league underway
Our men’s golf league got underway Wednesday afternoon. It was great to get back in competition and see some of our friends that we haven't seen since last fall.
Morey Monk/Noah Steinfeld and Jason Birkeland/Mike Croegaert are tied for first place. Gregg Drees/Jeff Johnson are running a close second. Drees and Johnson have moved up to the forward tees and they have, once again, become birdie making machines.
Last Saturday I got to see Gregg Drees play hole #6 in a most unusual way. He hit his drive into the fairway bunker. No problem, he's a good bunker player -- well there was one problem, he took a mighty swing and his ball was still in the bunker. Drees just repositioned himself, went through a mental checklist and hit the ball out of the bunker -- no problem, ah dang it, he hit his ball into a cedar tree. No problem, he has great hand and eye coordination. He wedged himself into that tree and with a short backswing, he let it fly - one problem - he whiffed. He repositioned and was able to hit his next shot out near the fairway. To his credit, he never swore or threw a club, he just kept smiling and swinging.
