Ainsworth Cross Country Teams Take First Place at Ainsworth Invite
Near perfect running conditions allowed the Ainsworth Boys Cross Country Team to keep up their winning tradition. The Ainsworth Boys Cross Country Team racked up their sixth consecutive win in the Ainsworth Invitational, which started in 2012. The Girls Cross Country Team has recorded four wins in the last six years, with 2017 and 2016 making it two straight wins.
For the Ainsworth boys, Ben Arens and Jacob Sinsel crossed the line in first and second respectively. Trey Schlueter finished in fifth place and freshman Qwentin Kappelmann finished in 26th place to give Ainsworth a 29 point score.
The Dawgs took first by eight points over second place Boyd County’s 37 points. West Holt placed third with 39 points.
Junior Ben Arens led the Dawgs with a time of 16:39.2 with senior Jacob Sinsel taking second with a time of 17:29.0.
Running in fifth place, Trey Schlueter finished with a time of 17:55.4. Qwentin Kappleman finished in 26th with a time of 21:29.5.
Ainsworth’s other runners were Tate Fernau with 22:09.6 in 34th place, Luke Peters with 23:28.3 in 46th place and Henry Beel with 24:39.2 in 54th place.
