Funeral services for Arlene Davis were held on Friday, January 10, 2020, at Olinger Funeral Cremation and Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Co.
Arlene was born to Edward and Frieda Horst on May 20, 1934 in Herrick. She was the second youngest of eleven children. Arlene married Gerald “Joe” Davis on November 26, 1953 in Herrick, SD. Joe and Arlene had four children, Linda (Mike) Bruno, Larry (Carol) Davis, Lori (Rick) Utecht, and Lisa (Rick) Abercrombie.
Arlene and Joe moved to Rapid City in 1956 and later to Arvada, CO, in 1967. She started her career at Wadsworth Control Systems in 1971, where she worked for 27 years. Arlene and Joe cherished their ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. They were married for 66 years and apart for only 10 days, as Joe passed away on December 22, 2019.
Arlene, affectionately called GG by her family truly loved her family, and she always made sure her family had all they needed, no matter the hours it took. She was always at any events or activities the family had, rain or shine. She never hesitated to take care of her grandchildren or great-grandchildren and enjoyed having them over anytime.
Arlene’s family will miss her cooking and baking. Her pumpkin pies, potato salad, knipfal soup, dumplings, and cookies just won’t taste the same from now on. She also enjoyed sewing. She could sew, hem, fix anything with a needle and thread or her sewing machine. All of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will cherish the blankets that she made for all of them.
Arlene Mae Davis passed away on January 1, 2020. Arlene is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a brother Willie (Carol) Horst, Colorado Springs, CO.
