Memorial services for Betty Berry were held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Wintz and Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, SD with Reverend Steve Weispfennig officiating.
Inurnment was in the Hillview Cemetery in Dallas, SD. Wintz and Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, SD was in charge of arrangements.
Betty was born April 20, 1943 in Gregory, SD, to George and Margaret (Gall) Ellwanger. She grew up in Dallas, SD, where she attended school. On January 1, 1963, Betty married Edwin Wilson. They lived near Burke, SD for a few years before moving to Dallas, SD to raise their family.
After their divorce, Betty moved to Springfield, SD. She attended college in Springfield and worked for C.R. Industries. Betty met Arthur Berry and they were later married on January 2, 1986. After their marriage, they lived in Tyndall, SD and then Hill City, SD where Betty drove truck with her husband. Art passed away on September 20, 1995 and Betty moved to Spearfish, SD. She later moved to Yankton in 2005. She was involved with the Senior Companion Program. Betty enjoyed bowling, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune and doing crossword puzzles.
Betty C. Berry, age 76, of Yankton, SD died on Friday, November 22, 2019 at her residence.
Betty is survived by five children: Greg Keierleber of Webster, SD, Earl (Sandra) Wilson of Tyndall, SD, Susan (Terry) Bitsos of Yankton, SD, Edwin Wilson of Spearfish, SD and Donald Wilson (Cinnamon Stranger Horse) of Spearfish, SD; five grandchildren: Brandy Beringer, James Beringer, Cassandra Wilson, Zara Bitsos, and Glenn Wilson; sixgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth McAllister of Spencer, NE and Lucille Wiedeman of Burke, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Berry; three brothers: Raymond, Robert and Harlan Ellwanger; and four sisters: Sarah Orelup, Lorraine Palecek, Helen Tunks, and Doris Ellwanger.
