Beverly H. Young, 89
Beverly H. Young was born July 6, 1930 to Louis and Louise (Genung) Hall. In the fall of 1930 the family moved to the Experiment Station at Valentine. During the winter of 1938, they moved to the grandparent’s ranch 13 miles north of Bassett. Beverly attended Carns School in Keya Paha County then graduated from Rock County High School in Bassett in 1948. After graduation, she and PH were married on November 22, 1948. They moved to the Gordon Valley Ranch where they spent their entire life. They raised four children; Patricia, Paul, Roger and Phyllis.
Beverly’s occupation was a ranch wife, not house wife. She loved the outdoors and all that went with it, including being out with the cattle, working in the hayfield and of course her large gardens and flower beds. In the later years, Beverly and PH traveled a lot of miles visiting old friends and family and meeting new ones. They spent many winters in Arizona with daughter Patricia but were always ready to come home to the ranch.
Beverly loved to sew, knit and crochet. She made many shirts for the boys and dresses for the girls and readily helped anyone who wanted to learn. She was a Simeon 4-H leader for many years, a member of Eastern Star and very involved with Extension Club and Garden Club. Beverly was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Lou and Louise; husband, PH and sister-in-law, Betty Hall.
She is survived by her brother, Ed Hall and sister, Carolyn Hall of Bassett; her children: Patricia Young of Phoenix, AZ, Paul (Pat) Young of Valentine, Roger (Carol) Young of Silverton, CO, and Phyllis Daniels of Crookston, NE; her grandchildren: Jennifer Pohlmeier, Keri (Roger) Morgan, Kandi Young, Tami (Kevin) Frank, Myste (Phil) French, John (Ryan) Shirk, Debbie (Gerald) Daniels Schmidt, Marty (Diane) Daniels, and JD (Nicole) Daniels, 15 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of service arrangements.
