Darlene Clarice Johnson was born in Gregory, SD on March 18, 1930. She passed away in Colorado Springs, CO on November 29, 2019. Her parents were Clarence and Libby Hansen who were long time Gregory residents.
Dar, as she was known to family and friends, went to public school in Gregory graduating from Gregory High School in 1947. She graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1951.
She was an elementary school teacher for 22 years, three years in Lincoln, NE and 19 in Colorado Springs, CO where she had lived for more than 50 years.
She married Milton Johnson, a pharmacist at the Broadmoor Drug, in Colorado Springs, CO, in 1961. They were married for 45 years before Milt’s passing in 2006.
Dar enjoyed walking, reading, gardening and traveling. Dar and Milt, along with Libby, would often travel to Florida for a winter vacation while Milt and Dar enjoyed many trips to the Colorado mountains.
She is survived by nephews Craig (Leslee) Werner of Madison, WI, Blake (Ellie) Werner of Broken Arrow, OK, Brian (Tina) Werner of Centennial, CO and John (Debby) Hertel of Reno, NV and their children and grandchildren.
Per Darlene’s request, no services will be held. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Colorado Springs, CO, beside Milt and Libby.
