Edward C. Fitch Sr., 86
Edward Charles Fitch Sr. passed away unexpectedly early in the morning of June 12, 2020, at Lutheran General Hospital Park Ridge, IL.
Ed was born May 17,1934, in Sacramento, CA to Jesse and Rachel Fitch. He is survived by his wife Gail of 26 years, and his brothers Jesse Fitch, Leonard Fitch and sister Martha Rivers, all three of California.
He served our country when he joined the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict upon the U.S.S. Buck.
Ed was a Lieutenant in the Arlington Heights Fire Department for many years. In addition, he was one of the first paramedics trained in Illinois through the program at Northwestern Community Hospital.
Ed was passionate about falconry and was himself a Master Falconer. He loved sharing his knowledge of falconry and had many apprentices throughout the years. Ed was a charter member of the North American Falconers Association, and was featured in the GLFA magazine.
Ed and Gail moved from Arlington Heights to Valentine to pursue their shared passion for falconry. Ed and Gail moved back to Illinois in 2018 and resided in Crystal Lake, IL.
He is survived by his sons, Edward Jr (Jo Ann), Ricky (Tina), stepdaughter, Laurie McDermott (Dan), stepson, Ken Bordignon, seven grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren and was preceded in death by first wife, Joyce (Jannusch) Fitch. The greatest gift he left us was his love of family and teaching us the beauty of nature.
