Elam Jeff Seacrest, 77
Elam Jeff Seacrest, 77, of Longmont, CO, died February 21, 2019 at his home. He was born in Fort Morgan, CO to Sarah Genevieve (Millhouse) and Ralph Rauch Seacrest. His family moved to Nebraska where Jeff spent his early childhood in North Platte. He spent two summers in Valentine with Uncle Archie and Aunt Margaret Mullin and his five cousins, where he, along with three cousins, hayed for Heinie DeNaeyer. Jeff entertained a ready-to-laugh audience around the kitchen table where he was famous for oozing mashed potatoes between his teeth. Cousins Gail, Philip, Johnnie, Mark and Kathy Mullin loved and were mesmerized by him. Jeff worked in Estes Park while in high school and joined the Navy after graduation. He was smitten with Becky Palmer in 7th grade home room at Casey Jr. High and several years later they were married. They raised their family in Boulder and moved to Longmont in 1991. After retirement the couple travelled frequently. Jeff had a lifelong love of the mountains and was an avid fly fisherman. Jeff always attended the Mullin reunions, and taught his cousins’ kids to fly fish at Camp Mallo in Newcastle, WY. He also enjoyed restoring classic cars and was a member of the Boulder Timing Association Car Club. His joy in recent years was taking Becky out to lunch. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Longmont, American Legion Post #32, and the Operating Engineers #9. When Jeff was not spending time with family or friends, he could be found in his workshop tinkering and listening to an eclectic variety of music.
He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Seacrest of Longmont; his daughters, Barbara Seacrest (Derald Lyons) of Parker, CO, Jeannie (Kirk) McClure of Lawrence, KS; and his son, Jeff (Jewel) Seacrest of Grand Junction, CO. He is also survived by his sister, Roxanne Powell of Longmont, and his brother, David (Barbara) Seacrest of San Mateo, CA; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding Jeff in death are his parents and one grandson, Hunter Lyons.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Longmont on March 11, 2019.
