Jerome R. Dvorak, 85
Jerome Roger Dvorak, a long time rancher passed away August 26, 2019 at the Cherry County Hospital.
On September 6, 1933 he was born in Winner, SD to Anton Dvorak and Alvina (Bettcher) Dvorak.
He attended school in Todd County and Winner.
Jerome joined the Army and served with the 11th Airborne for three years. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
Upon returning to South Dakota, he began ranching with his family. He loved working the land, and his cattle was his life. Retirement was not for him.
On June 10, 1954 he married his soulmate Beryle Dvorak. From this union, three children were born; Beverly, Carol, and David.
Jerome was a hard working man, and his work was always done to perfection. His haystacks were admired by all.
In 2007, he bought a home in Valentine, but continued to spend much of his time at the ranch he loved so much.
Jerome was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. His family was his pride and joy, and he was rarely seen without a smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beryle. His children: Beverly Dvorak of Mitchell, SD; Carol and Rick King, of Rapid City, SD; and David and Pam Dvorak of Valentine, NE. Grandchildren: Jessica Cook, Kattiy Vennard, Timmi Dobesh, and Dani Bertsch. Greatgrandchildren Zachary, Gabrielle, Madison, Chloe, Natalie, Shelby, and Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lawrence and Duane and brothers-in-law, Clarence, Harold, and Bill.
Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Burial will be at a later date. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine was in charge of service arrangements.
