
Jewel K. Hardt, 96
Jewel Kathryn Hardt, 96, of Lincoln, passed away February 6, 2021. Born 1924 to Andrew Edwin and Leura (Mapps) Lind in Kilgore. She made lifelong friends in Kilgore and she enjoyed sharing stories with her children of her life there. When she was 16, her family moved to Lincoln so the children could attend UNL. Jewel graduated from the UNL Teachers College High School in 1942. She graduated from UNL with an Associate Degree in Commercial Education in 1945.
Jewel married Kenneth Hardt, a jeweler, in 1949. They were married for 58 years. Jewel enjoyed traveling and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s music programs and school events. Places of employment: GOLD’s, Nebraska State Capitol, Nebraska Game and Parks and 31 years at Miller and Paine/Dillards in Customer Service. She was a member of Sheridan Blvd. Baptist Church and served on many committees. She also attended Friedens Lutheran Church for 71 years with her family. She was a member of the UNL Delian Union Literary Society.
Jewel was kind, funny, welcoming, positive, and she loved her family unconditionally. The large family get togethers brought laughs and smiles, as family stories were shared. She was known for her love of coffee, chocolates and Nebraska football.
She is survived by her children: Karen (Al) Scribner, Gary Hardt, Julie Erickson all of Lincoln. Grandchildren: Chad (Lisa) Scribner, Shawn (Carrie) Scribner, Faith (Seth) Lauterbach, Nick Hardt, Christina (Paul) Strong, Jeremy (Teresa) Erickson, Kayle Hardt and 22 great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law: Doris Hardt, Patricia Hardt. Brother-in-law: Larry Hardt. Many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers James and John Lind.
Services were held February 13, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to Friedens Lutheran Church elevator/lift fund.
