Shaun C. VanderWey, 16

Shaun Conner VanderWey was born on April 10, 2004 to Jason and Heidi Vander-Wey in Valentine. He spent his early years in Valentine and attended Little Lambs Preschool and Valentine Elementary for his kindergarten year. He moved to Omaha and was there until 2018 when he moved to Dakota, MN where he resided until his death. He was currently attending LaCrescent-Hokah Public Schools and was working for Ready Bus Lines and Steve Wieser Farms.

His passions were farming, anything to do with John Deere tractors, the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, or anything that involved being able to go fast. He was extremely proud of the snowmobile he purchased and was a great big brother who loved giving the kids rides or helping them learn to ride the snowmobiles. He enjoyed spending summers and any breaks in Nebraska and South Dakota with his grandparents and especially loved being with his cousin Jed, doing anything they would consider fun. They both loved and lived life to the fullest with no regrets.

Shaun passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2020 at his home. He is survived by his parents Heidi and Robert Erdmann and Jason and Shelly VanderWey; sister, Harper Arnolde; and brothers, Nigel VanderWey, Axel Erdmann, Tavin Erdmann and baby brother Erdmann due in September. Grandparents, Frank and Marcia Arens, Jack and Bonnie VanderWey, and Robert and Mary Erdmann; aunts and uncles, Jenny VanderWey, Sam Arens, Pete and Jenna Arens, and Nick and Jodi Erdmann and cousins, Shyla Stearns, Atticus Arens, Collin Erdmann and Ashley Erdmann.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, uncle, Clint VanderWey and cousins, James VanderWey and Jed VanderWey.

Funeral services were held Tuesday May 12, 2020 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Valentine with burial following at Mount Hope Cemetery, Valentine. A memorial service will be held in LaCrescent, MN at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions.
