Ainsworth Bulldogs Lose Season Opener to Sandhills-Thedford
The Ainsworth Bulldog Football Team lost its season opener to Sandhills-Thedford Knights, 22 to 57. The Dawgs traveled to Dunning on Friday, August 24th for a 7:30 p.m. game. Ainsworth got the ball first, but Sandhills-Thedford quickly stopped the Dawgs, who had a tough time keeping the defense out of the back field. Sandhills-Thedform scored twice in the opening quarter, giving them a 16 to 0 lead. Ainsworth and Sandhills-Thedford traded scores in the second quarter to make the score 22 to 6.
With just under two minutes left in the second quarter, Ainsworth scored a touchdown and added a two-point conversion for a 14 to 22 game. But with less than a minute left in the quarter, Sandhills-Thedford added two touchdowns to take a 42 to 14 lead into halftime. Sandhills-Thedford added their sixth touchdown of the game in the third quarter while holding the Dawgs scoreless. The fourth quarter found both teams adding a touchdown to make the final score 57 to 22.
