Ainsworth Cross Country Teams Run Well at Southwest Conference

By Coach Jared Hansmeyer

The Ainsworth Cross Country teams continued their season with a strong showing at the Southwest Conference Championships hosted by Gothenburg on Thursday. Strong competition and adverse weather conditions proved to work together to make a surprisingly fast day. Rain, sleet and snow, coupled with early doses of thunder, lightning and wind, along with temperatures in the low 40’s, set the stage for a strange early October day. In the end, the girls would come away with two allconference performances and a third place team showing. The boys would have four all-conference performances, finishing runner-up. Four all-conference performances by middle school athletes closed the meet as the middle school girls finished second. Freshman Rylee Rice remained unbeaten on the season as she ran away from the field for her sixth win of the season. Rice crossed the line with a time of 19:20.
